AUD is characterized by compulsive alcohol use, loss of control over alcohol intake, and a negative emotional state when not drinking. Symptoms can range from mild to severe.
Pain pill addiction occurs mainly with the misuse of a class of drugs named opioids, including oxycodone (OxyCotin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), hydromorphone (Dilaudid), and meperidine (Demerol).
